ONCE GUARDED presents 8 artists who have already featured in the Berlin issue #3 2021 of the magazine ever_emerging_mag.  The edition, published in a time of lockdown, featured these 8 Berlin based women artists under the themes of Facades, Borders and Domesticity. One year later, the same artists come together in the space of KHBStudios Berlin, this time, presenting their work beyond borders, domesticity and facades.  This exhibition celebrates the opening up of the cultural sector and the coming together of diverse artists after two years of being ‘guarded’.

Opening of that that was once guarded.  The exhibition will take place in KHBStudios Berlin, a space created and directed by one of the artists, Stefie Steden.  We kindly ask you to wear a mask during the opening

About ever_emerging_mag, a magazine that presents only women artists over 45 years old, was founded 1.5 years ago by Marguerite Nolan, after graduating from art school in her late 20s. The platform is born out of her desire to uplift older women artists while highlighting emergence as a life-long endeavour that is not always related to age. With several editions, exhibitions, panel discussions, and recently released print edition under their belt, ever_emerging_mag continues to grow and create discourse around preconceptions on age, competence, and ambition in regard to older femxle artists in creative industries.  The Berlin edition is the first international localised edition by ever_emerging_mag. This edition created a network of women artists based in Berlin, who now come together once again in the exhibition Once Guarded.

The wait is over… this week @torncontemporary launched. Many thanks to the brave and patient founder @katherinesheers for persevering with all things CV-19, and continuing to look out for all of us involved artists .

TORN Contemporary specialising in works of art on paper – OPEN!

”Happy Friday! And another ten trees going in the ground thanks to this SOLD artwork 'Discarded Landscape II' by TORN artist @alexroberts975.

Using economical marks to create a tangible sense of identity, I love the way Alex has allowed the crumpled nature of the recycled packaging it's painted on, to disrupt the subject matter.

But shhhh...this piece is destined to be a surprise gift. If you'd like to purchase artwork from TORN as a present, just let us know and the artist will happily include a personal note to the lucky recipient”.

Bauhaus 2021 Change Of Plans

With the constant, ever-changing situation with the pandemic, the Free Your Painting course along with many other Bauhaus Summer School courses is sadly being postponed this August. Please see the information shared and links from BSS, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (below) for more information.

Alex and the BSS courses hope to return and welcome you to Weimar in the forthcoming future when the world is settled, healthier. Please stay safe!

“CHANGE OF PLANS

With regard to the ongoing and constantly changing pandemic situation we have to make some changes in our summer programme – several of our amazing and insightful courses need to be cancelled. It was with an immense heavy heart that this decision has been made, but we want to do our part to help contain the pandemic.

That’s the moment for a big shout-out to all of our great lecturers who have already invested a lot of time and sweat – we hope that someday we’ll eventually organise a wonderful summer together!

We are all the more grateful to announce the following silver lining: the courses Cultural Landscapes, Forecast Engineering, and Design Thinking will be able to take place – on- or off-line.

For all of you who had already their eye on a course that got cancelled now: we very much hope to welcome you in Weimar when times are a bit more calm again.

We can't say it often enough: Thank you all a lot for your support and understanding - you are an amazing crowd! Always feel welcome to contact us via email or message in case you have questions or issues on this topic”.
